MOONEE Ponds’ apartment and unit market made the most ferocious gains with prices escalating 200 per cent over the past 10 years, the State Government’s A Guide to Property Values 2002 revealed.
The report showed Moonee Ponds was closely followed by Ascot Vale at 198 per cent while Essendon North showed the lowest increase of 63 per cent.
Most house prices showed moderate increases over the past 10 years with exception of Gladstone Park and Tullamarine, which both rose 86 per cent, while Strathmore Heights increased 94 per cent.
Agents sold property valued at about $825 million in the City of Moonee Valley in 2002 including 1454 houses, 758 apartments/units, 40 vacant house blocks, 63 commercial and 23 industrial properties.
It was fourth in Victoria for highest median price increase of vacant residential land, up 32 per cent from $104,125 to $137,500.
A total of $914 million in property was sold in the City of Hume in 2002 including 2553 houses, 290 apartments/units, 1665 vacant house blocks, 74 commercial and 162 industrial properties.
